For all the hockey fans out there…

My friend, Liz Jennings, has released an e-book from Cerridwen Press starring (yes!!!) a hockey player. As you might have noticed, books featuring hockey are few and far between. Better, Liz's writing is impeccable. The reviews of Dying in Siena, a murder mystery, are terrific.

Want a little sex in your stocking?

Another writer buddy, Suz de Mello, makes her erotica debut this month with a short story from Ellora's Cave. Suz's holiday "Quickie," entitled, "First and Last," is set on the moon in the year 2114 and is a hot, fast read (that's why it's called a Quickie!)

It'll be available on December 26, the first night of Chanukah. In "First and Last," Lunarian law requires 24-year-old Shayna Goldstein to marry before she's 25. She's dated everyone in New Brooklyn, but Gideon Landers, the first man who kissed her, haunts her memories, preventing her from loving anyone else. Desperate, she consults a matchmaker, who sends a reluctant Shayna to Farside Colony to meet her mate.

The commander of Farside Colony, Gideon Landers has never forgotten Shayna. That he's been matched with her is a dream come true, but will Shayna be willing to live in the remote colony?

Suz's first novella will be available January 3, 2006, from Loose Id, another online erotica publisher. You'll think it's July, not January, when you read the mega-hot and sexy Walk on the Wild Side.

Set in contemporary San Francisco, this story follows tough, clever and beautiful, biracial detective Liza Bowman, who struggles with a kidnapping case until she finds the victim's secret sex diary. The diary reveals that the young female vic went to a bar dressed in scanty red leather and read The Story of O...she hasn't been seen since. Liza recklessly imitates the vic's last known location and activities, and falls into the hands of James Li, the most notorious whoremaster in the city.

Wealthy and handsome, James has already crossed paths with Liza--when she dared to arrest him. In James' view, reading a famous bondage novel in public is a blatant come-on, and he's eager and ready to give his nemesis what she wants...

If you're new to e-books…

They're the fastest growing sector in publishing. An e-book can be downloaded to your PDA or your computer…even to your cell phone…in a variety of formats. They're cheaper than traditional paper books; easier to store, easier to transport. I can increase or decrease the font size as I prefer. When I travel, I can take an entire library with me in my e-book reader, a portable device the size of one paperback novel. Sure saves on space when I'm packing !

Enter the information age…give e-books a try.

Happy New Year, everybody!

Best wishes for a joyous 2006
